calendar save the dates

Sophie and Shane are getting married this fall out in California. I have always dreamt of living in California, so it was fun to hear little snippets of their wedding details. Their venue is the cutest combination of the rustic industrial and the very picturesque California wine country.

Sophie described her style as modern, classic, and effortless–think J. Crew. The save the dates reflect this style with a simple calendar graphic on the front with their date highlighted with a bright and bold orange circle. This is paired with a modern and fun calligraphy script for their names and all the other pertinent info in a classic block font.

I can’t wait to hear more about their upcoming wedding as I’m sure it’ll be absolutely amazing!

Rustic + Romantic

Nicole and Jake are getting married! I’ve known Nicole ever since high school. She lived in my neighborhood and her sister and I were classmates. She’s always had the nickname, Baby Brackett to me because she’s so sweet and adorable. It’s hard to imagine that the girl I grew up with and was bus buddies with is now getting married! I’m so excited for their fall wedding–they are getting married the same weekend that my husband and I exchanged our vows just 2 years ago.

Nicole and Jake are holding a small intimate gathering for family and close friends. There is a willow tree at their venue and she loved the idea or incorporating that into the save the date and wedding suite. So I drew a willow tree for her and ‘carved’ their initials into the card to emphasize their rustic + romantic wedding theme.

And for the return address, I designed a custom rubber stamp for her and Jake to use now, for the wedding invitations, and for whatever other mail they need to send! To stamp on the dark chocolate envelopes, we just used a white ink pad–charming right?

Can’t wait to start on your wedding suite, Baby Brackett…and I think it’s time to stop calling you that…

Save-the-date timeline

I had the pleasure of working with Maya on save-the-date cards a few weeks ago. She and her fiance Bryan were looking for something romantic but modern for their upcoming summer wedding. She wanted to create a timeline of important moments in their lives as a couple: they meet, they kiss, they love…

And I just love the copy she came up with: “they set a date, please save it.”

Save the date–Emily + Rafael are getting hitched!

We recently worked on save the dates for Rafael and Emily’s fall wedding. Emily and I have been friends for 9 years (wow!) when we first met as college hallmates at UVa. I was so honored when Emily asked me to be one of her bridesmaids and was happy to help her create very unique save the dates!

Like a lot of brides, Emily started collecting swatches from many different sources to try to pin down her wedding colors. She gathered a few orange fabric samples for our bridesmaid dresses and these hues were inspiration for the save the dates.

Emily didn’t want the normal engagement photo save the date, so she had the idea of combining the color swatches into a paint chip inspired announcement. The varying hues of orange were perfect because we actually were all able to choose our own shade for our bridesmaid dress.

So here’s our rendition of a paint chip announcement! Important milestone dates sit where color names usually are, and we used a distressed font to tie in to the textures of their wedding site (Historic Tredegar in Richmond, VA). We provided a digital file for her to take to a local printer for flat printing–the best option for large solid areas. We’ll be on the lookout for these save the date postcards in the mail in the next few weeks and can’t wait to celebrate with them in the fall!
