calendar save the dates

Sophie and Shane are getting married this fall out in California. I have always dreamt of living in California, so it was fun to hear little snippets of their wedding details. Their venue is the cutest combination of the rustic industrial and the very picturesque California wine country.

Sophie described her style as modern, classic, and effortless–think J. Crew. The save the dates reflect this style with a simple calendar graphic on the front with their date highlighted with a bright and bold orange circle. This is paired with a modern and fun calligraphy script for their names and all the other pertinent info in a classic block font.

I can’t wait to hear more about their upcoming wedding as I’m sure it’ll be absolutely amazing!

modern meets romantic

Remember Maya and Bryan (their save the dates and wedding suite)? They got married back in July and I was thrilled to work on their day of materials to complete their wedding stationery.

Their wedding invitations had a very modern feel with the blind debossed abstract motif of fly lines + water. For their day of materials, Maya really wanted to add more color and create a more romantic atmosphere…but still flow with the invitations. I kept a continuity of fonts and colors (pink + grays) from the invitations to the day of materials. And then I added a watercolor sketch of some flowers that softened the pieces.

The programs and menus had the flowers framing the corners while the table numbers and escort cards carried the wavy lines from the invites.

Wow…doesn’t that menu sound so delicious? It definitely made my mouth water while I was designing it.

maya-dayof-05I loved how everything turned out and I’m so glad that I got to work with people like Maya, Bryan, and their families!

the secret is revealed…

remember the secret project we were working on back here in the spring printing blitz? well it’s finally time to reveal the big news! we teamed up with rock paper scissors (who was working with Easton Events) to print the gorgeous paper in this photo shoot featured in this fall’s issue of The Knot.

Dani, from rock paper scissors designed all of the paper goods from the invites, menus/place cards, favor tags, napkins, etc. The calligraphy is from Alissa of Feast fine art & calligraphy. Isn’t her hand writing so incredibly beautiful?

The shoot focuses on the beauty of the Virginia landscape and the craft of hand made + local goods. And since honey was the theme of the make believe wedding, I printed the entire suite in a soft orange brown that made it feel like the pen was literally dipped in honey. paired with the big looping arcs of calligraphy and tea stained paper (yes, Dani literally soaked and dyed each sheet of paper with tea), the stationery suite really complimented the atmosphere of old world charm meets modern bride. and I know you can’t actually touch the paper, but everything was printed on Arpa handmade paper from Spain–and it is the softest, most luxurious paper I’ve ever printed on.

Thank you to rock paper scissors for letting me print these and be a part of the team. And don’t forget to pick up your copy of The Knot today!

introducing finn!

My nephew, joshua finn was born in may and I had such a blast working on his birth announcements. My sister thought it would be cute to do something marine themed to play off his name, finn (fin, fish, get it)?

So I worked through several options with her and finally fell in love with a school of fish emerging from the edges of the paper thus bringing lots of movement to the whole piece. It’s paired with a simple, but classic bold font to bring complement the dynamic graphic.

The announcements were paired with photographs that my sister shot of her two boys. Christopher (who is 3 1/2 years old) is so sweet to his little brother and loves him so much (most of the time that is). Aren’t they just the cutest? These, along with the announcement were placed in a light gray envelope and, stamped with with a custom rubber stamp, and shipped off to all their family + friends.
