Happy (almost) birthday Carson!

Our nephew Carson turns one at the end of May! I can’t believe it’s been a whole year since we first met him. My husband and I were blessed to have Chip, Anne, and Carson just down the street before they had to move to Atlanta last summer. We’ve gotten to see them a few times this past year but I feel like I get to sit down and have coffee with them every morning when I read my sister in law’s blog, licensed professional mom.

Anne asked me a few weeks ago to design a birthday invitation for Carson playing off the theme of our family’s last name Hogge. They were already planning on serving BBQ at the party so we created a fun and modern invitation with references to good ol’ southern pulled pork, licking your fingers good barbeque!

We printed these on double ply lettra to give an extra luxurious feel to the invitation and paired them with kraft brown envelopes. We also included lots of other little goodies in their package, including Carson’s wagon cards, and a VERY belated christmas present from Gage.

Lauren + Kyle are getting married!

Lauren and Kyle are getting married this June at her family’s farm in Madison, Virginia. I first met Lauren in 2004 when we sat across from each other during our first architecture studio. I was so excited when L+K approached us to produce their suite! Lauren and Kyle are both architects and actually met during grad school. As designers, they worked with their friend Jono to create their suite, complete with a new and official Sturgeon family crest! The three of them teamed up to design the invitation, map, and rsvp, and Studio TEN15 created a set of personalized stationery using their crest and names as a wedding gift.

Whitney + Zach’s Wildflower suite

We just completed printing and mailing off Whitney and Zach’s wedding suite this week. We ran with the theme of wildflowers and composed their pincushion flowers in both silhouettes and contours.

We created a square invitation to fit in envelopes that Whitney had already bought in New York and we paired it with a smaller rectangular information card. It’s a growing trend now to send replies via email instead of having to send back a physical card and the info card is a great way to direct guest to their wedding email and website.

We had a blast designing and pressing these and can’t wait for their June wedding.

Whitney + Zach Preview!

Whitney has been our friend for many years and we can’t wait for her wedding in June here in Charlottesville! We first met Whitney in school at UVa, where she was actually my TA for a study abroad program. We are so thrilled that Whitney and Zach though of us to help them design and produce their wedding suite!

The wedding will be held in late spring at a local winery with the most beautiful views of the Central Virginia countryside. Whitney describes their wedding as fun and laidback–just like they are. They are including wildflowers, barbecue, vintage charm, and just plain old fun in their joyous day. We chose to create something that would embody the feel of their wedding with several stems of Pincushion flowers that will be used at their actual wedding.

We loved working with W+Z and can’t wait to celebrate with them this June!

Brooke + Tony Preview!

Here’s a sneak peek at Brooke and Tony’s wedding suite. We drew a coastal scene for them that captures the spirit of a place very near and dear to their hearts, Southport NC. This was also the first time working with the wonderful Jen Maton of If so Inklined–she penned all of the beautiful calligraphy!

We’re finishing up this suite this week and have had the best time working with Brooke and Tony–stay tuned for the full suite in the next few weeks!

Collaboration + a beautiful partnership

We posted a few quick shots from the cards we made a few weeks ago for our friend Andrea and Andrea Hubbell Photography. She just posted a few shots from out photoshoot of the studio–so head on over there and check them out! Thanks again, andrea!

eeeeeee! Hatch Show Print

Last week we got a package in the mail from our friends Emily and Mike. When I opened it up, I literally shrieked…I LOVE Hatch Show Print and their letterpressed posters.

We went to an exhibit at the Library of Virginia a few months ago and fell in love with their work–you can see that post here. I’m not sure if Emily and Mike truly know how much I love Hatch and how much I love this poster! It has all of the vibrant colors I love (the teal being E+M’s wedding color) and it’s printed with vintage wood block carvings. How can you not love that?

A big thank you to Emily + Mike, you are the best because now I have a Hatch Show Print poster to call my very own!
